These are excellent earphones for the price. They have a crystal clear sound and I have had no problems with them. I am planning to buy 1 more pair!

Not wortht he price even if the price is low
I got these ear buds for my daughter who is addicted to her i-pod and uses it every day. She goes through ear buds pretty quickly so I didn't want to spend a lot of money, and these were very reasonable. The sound was good and she said they were pretty comfortable, but these lasted even less than the cheap ear buds you buy on an airplane for $2. I know they were not very expensive, but I expected them to last at least a little longer. They stopped working in less than 2 months! Not worth the price even if the price is low!!

itouch Rocks!
I haven't always been an ipod fan but the itouch won me over. Its far better than anything out there... period! A great music player with loads of cool features but it also has awesome wifi capabilities that set it apart. It really is unbelievable!!!

Limited in terms of WiFi, but then again... its an ipod
I just wanted to start out by saying i second the guy that said that this thing loses a lot of its value when its outside of wifi range, and for some reason it doesn't do a good job in picking up wifi as many other handheld devices that have purchaced. I am in North Dakota at the moment so this is a tad bit of a problem, but if i were back in Cleveland or another big city then im sure id be in wifi range where ever i went.

I would suggest listening to your music or watching a movie till you got back in wifi range because this device is amazing, from the apps store (where there are a number of apps downloadable for free) to the breath taking mobile web browser. The main downside of that though is that you can't watch flash videos. They did an amazing job with the keyboard and this thing holds a charge like nothing ive seen of this type.

But i have to admit if the archos 5 had just a bit more polish i probably would have went with the 120g version of that. But i am VERY happy about my purchase.

Word of advice, this thing looks beautiful, but that quickly changes as it smudges very easily and its also very noticeable. GET A CASE YOU WILL NEED IT!

I'd buy another
I already have one and liked it so much I bought one for my husbands Garmin GPS also.

Caveat Emptor
As you'd expect, this unit does exactly what you'd expect of it, no more, no less...BUT...MAKE SURE YOU ORDER THE BEANBAG SPECIFIC TO YOUR GARMIN. These are not interchangeable. I suggest you go to the Garmin website and make sure you are ordering the correct model Beanbag for your GPS unit.
When our beanbag arrived, the mount included with our StreetPilot c550 would not fit. I had read a review by another poster who said Garmin provided him with the proper mount at no charge.
I went to the Garmin site and submitted an email stating my mount wouldn't fit. After three days, when I didn't get a reply, I called their 800 number. The woman who responded was fairly snippy, telling me I should have purchased the beanbag directly from Garmin (price was 25% higher than Amazon) and suggested I return my beanbag to Amazon and order the proper one on the site.
Amazon issued a return authorization immediately (as usual...even crediting me for my return freight charges!) and as soon as I returned it, got a response to my initial Garmin email, from a very nice, supportive gentleman in customer service, who told me a replacement mount was being sent to me free of charge.
Draw your own conclusion...or better yet, just take the time to make sure you're ordering the right unit.

Doesn't fit StreetPilot C530
The base of the c530 mount is 2.5 inches. The docking station of this beanbag is less than 2 inches. Doesn't fit. Now I notice that the description has changed...no longer mentions my garmin model.

Road director
It's a life saver in unfamiliar areas. If you make a wrong turn it readjusts its self to bring you into the right direction again. Sometimes it seems to take you out of the way but you find out later that it was the quickest and smoothest direction to your destination.
Having just moved to an unfamiliar town it's great especially for my job as I'm on the road alot looking for new Bible Studies.

Useful and inexpensive
This was a useful, inexpensive add-on. The memory storage wallet was not up to snuff, but everything else works well enough. The mini tripod works better than expected, but we have already upgraded that anyway. The difficulty with the tripod is setting it to level. Still, overall a good purchase.

The camera case is good for my Canon and when I purchased a larger case (this one does not have enough room to carry the battery charger and some other essentials), I use this case as extra padding inside the larger case I bought, so it didn't go to waste at all. The case is well made and easy to access.

Tiny tripod but great overqall value.
The tripod is only about 8 inches tall, so you'll need a table and that isn't clear on the description. However, the entire package was a good buy. It arrived quickly and everything was intact. Very good experience!

great printer with out great linux drivers
I connected this to a wired network - I have not tried the wireless connections. It was very easy. Printer works well. One problem (otherwise I would have given it five stars) - there are no really good linux drivers (some so-so ones but no great ones - get on it Brothers!)

Great economical printer
I was a bit leery buying this printer because the brand didn't have the market "mind-share" that HP, EPSON, and Canon have. I own both HP and Canon inkjets that use way too much ink, so I decided to try this one since for about $47 (the same price as the ink cartridges), I could get 2,600 printed pages!! It seems like I get about 100 pages on the HP and Canon before I need to order more ink. No matter what site I looked at, the reviews of the printer were SOLID, with people generally complaining about the wireless set up. I think if you know your wireless settings, you won't have too many problems.

I used the directions and CD that came with the printer, and followed the directions that used the ethernet cable, since I have a very old wireless Linksys G router. I have Windows XP machines, and since I knew all my wireless settings, the computers were set up very quickly and printed on the first try, except one machine, where the personal firewall was blocking the print jobs. Once I added the printer's IP address to the firewall, all the print jobs went through. I did use the BRAdmin Light Utility that came with the CD to change the printer to a static IP address to eliminate any issues with the IP address I specified in the firewall, since I can have a variable number of machines connected to the router.

So far, the print quality has been very good. The printer is completely wireless... no cat5 wire from the printer to the router, nor are there any wires from the machines to the printer. What Freedom! The printer is in a completely different room from the router/modem. Duplexing is manual, but for the current 89.99 price, that's a small inconvenience. I have been impressed with the utilities that come with the printer... I can see exactly how many copies I have printed, and I can also see how many jams have occurred (none). I don't think you can get that kind of information from HP or Canon.

Overall, I am very pleased with this printer.

Wireless printer
Very good product. Very convenient. I use it for my home network and since I have a notebook and so does my wife, it makes printing easy. A little bit of trouble with the installation because I have a Mac and my wife has a PC.

SYLVANIA 19-inch HDTV
This is a very tinny-sounding TV. Really awful sound. The picture wasn't much better than the analog TV it was supposed to replace. I returned it and was thrilled to have my old 19-inch back. Hooked up a converter box to it and am very glad to have returned the Sylvania. If you are someone accustomed to good to better sound from a tv, don't buy this one. This would suffice for a kid who doesn't know any better about sound or picture quality.

Design
The 305's design is a radical departure from Garmin's previous generation of wrist mounted GPS devices, which reached a pinnacle with the Garmin Forerunner 301. While the 301 delivered accurate heart rate monitoring, good performance tracking, and decent GPS reception, it didn't quite deliver in the design department. The form factor was bulky and wearing it wasn't much different than duct taping a full-sized GPS device to your wrist.

Not so with the 305. Garmin's engineers obviously burned the midnight oil and have come up with a waterproof design that, while certainly not as small as a sports watch, feels just as comfortable. The curved casing allows the unit's antenna to face the sky when you're running, while the widescreen display is perfectly positioned for viewing when you need it. And the display certainly deserves a few kudos. While it's smaller than the display found on previous Forerunners, its resolution is far higher, offering incredible clarity and crispness.

Garmin has smartly given the 305 a simple button layout and the buttons have a nice tactile feel with good pressure response. The right side houses the menu selection and enter buttons, while the left houses a power/backlight button and a mode button. This simple and elegant solution is a big improvement over the sometimes confusing button functionality of previous Forerunners. View button layout.

The underside of the 305 is pretty nondescript, except for a row of contacts that interface with the included charging and data cradle. The cradle is small and unobtrusive and its single mini-USB port connects to either an included AC adapter, or a USB cable that connects to your PC. In addition to data transfer with the USB cable, you can also charge the 305's embedded lithium-ion battery via a powered USB connection from your computer.

GPS Performance
The big news about the Forerunner 305 is that it features an integrated, high-sensitivity SiRFstar III GPS receiver. What does this mean? It means that the 305's ability to both track, and maintain a lock on, your position is better than anything before it. After an intial battery charge, the tester had the 305 on his wrist and was tracking speed and distance with GPS satellites within 3 minutes. The next time we used the 305, satellite acquisition was nearly instantaneous. A run through dense trees didn't faze the unit either; tracking remained true and steady. Performance on a bike was equally impressive. Whatever witchcraft has been cooked up by the designers of the SiRF technology, we like it!

The simple docking cradle makes charging and data connectivity a snap.

While the Forerunner 305 isn't billed as a GPS navigation device, it does have some rudimentary mapping, waypoint marking, and routing capabilities. In addition to marking locations along your journey, you can zoom in or out of a simple map that displays your current direction and path. There's also a "go to location" feature that routes you back to your starting location, or to any location you have defined. Once you have defined several locations, you can save this information as a route, allowing you to travel the same path in the future. As you'll see below, the 305's new "Courses" feature gives you new levels of control over how you define your favorite runs and rides.

Training Functions
The 305 is first and foremost a training tool, and its ability to organize a ton of data types into a user experience that is intuitive and simple is no small feat. Whiz-bang technology aside, if you can't use it and make it a natural part of your exercise routine, it's worthless. When it comes to these factors -- and here's the take home message on the 305 -- this device is successful where many other devices fail.

The heart and soul of the 305 can be found on the data screens, which give you real-time information about all aspects of your workout. In fact, the 305 can display a dizzying array of data, such as calories burned, distance, elevation, grade, and heading, as well as multiple lap and pace modes. The 305 adds the ability to track heartrate, lap heartrate, average heartrate, and heartrate zones via the included coded heartrate chest strap. With the purchase of a separate wireless cadence and speed meter, you can also track bike performance data.

Thankfully, the device makes it easy to define how much or how little data you want to view during a workout. You can arrange the data that's most important to you and then make that data appear front and center on the device. Indeed, within a few minutes of skimming the manual and fiddling with the device setup, you'll have your most important data displaying just the way you like it. The ability to display heartrate is a big plus, too, as it's a fairly good indicator of excercise output, fatigue, and fitness level. The 305 has all the heartrate functions you'd expect from a full-function monitor, including the ability to set target zones and alerts to maximize the effectiveness of your workouts.

Garmin's Virtual Partner function was cool feature of previous Forerunners and they've decided to keep a good thing going with the 305. If you're the type that performs best when you've got a competitor egging you on, you'll love this function, as it allows you to set up virtual running or biking companions that compete against you.

If you're looking for an complicated workout with a variety of intervals and intensity levels, or just a quick three-mile jog against your best time last week, the 305 has you covered. Navigating to the Workouts menu on the device yields three options: Quick Workouts, Interval, and Advanced Workout. A quick workout is just that; set the distance and time, distance and pace, or time and pace of your planned workout and off you go. Interval workouts are just the same, but they allow you to add repetitions and rest between them. When you really want to get fancy with your exercise, you can step up to advanced workouts, which include goals for each workout step, as well as varied distances, times, and rest periods. You can use the Garmin Training Center software to set up these workouts and then upload them to the device.

PC Connectivity and Software
Garmin has been outfitting their devices with USB connectivity for some time now -- a welcome move for those who struggled with serial port connections in the days of yore. Thanks to USB, the 305 integrates seamlessly with the Training Center software and we quickly had workout history uploaded and stored on the PC (Sadly, Training Center is not Mac-compatible). Not only does Training Center make it easy to track your performance, you can graph data such as heartrate alongside your speed and distance. Over time, this is a great way to view your fitness levels increase, and it also helps you see what types of workouts are necessary to strengthen your weaknesses. For instance, if you see your heartrate begin to spike after a certain distance, you know you need to increase your endurance workouts to train that area of fitness.

In a first for the Forerunner series, the Training Center software also lets you define courses on your PC that you can upload to the device. When course information is combined with uploaded workout information, the Forerunner becomes a complete guide, telling you where to go, when to make a turn, and what kind of workout to do when you're on the road or path. Back on the PC, the software's ability to overlay workout data on maps of the course makes it easy to see where the course offers up the tough hills and the easy recovery spots. Plus, the ability to track historical performance on a given course is a great way to measure your improvement.

The 305 is also fully compatible with Garmin's MotionBased service, which takes your training to another level by connecting your data with the Internet. While we weren't able to use the service, the promise of sharing courses, maps, workouts, and performance data with other users is intriguing. And if you're a serious endurance athlete, you'll be glad to know that the 305 is also compatible with TrainingPeaks.com, an easy-to-use web based training system designed to help athletes train for any event.

My second 305
Like it! Daily use, I can think only a couple of occasions when I got incorrect readings (low signal??), AND in the same area... Auto laps by position in a track were accurate to 3-4 meters, very acceptable. In fact this is my second one, after the first one did not survive being run over by a Dodge SUV... Don't leave it on the roof of your car!!!

The monitor is fantastic. Your speed and heart rate are recorded every second. You may review them at each inch of your track. You can see your track on Google Earth. You can race yourself and see how far behind or ahead are you in comparison with a previous training.
Even for those afficcionados who are not professionals, the purchase is worthwhile.

Great charger for Digital Camera
The charger and batteries were purchased for a Canon camera that rapidly goes through AA Alkaline batteries. So far, after several weeks of use, the Sony batteries are keeping their charge as expected. A great alternative to Canon's battery re-charge system.

Went on holiday to east of USA,hired car and bought Garmin 270 through amazon.I was worried before purchase about smalller sized screen,alas the screen was perfect.The GPS was user friendly,very reliable and pocket sized for carrying when not in car. The features like the restaurents,hotels,petrol icons on screen made my holiday very enjoyable as I did not know the area on holiday.My family could relax when returning to hotel at night when dark.Overall brillant device.I believe maps are about 18 months old,so one occasion a petrol station was no longer in that location.I could not say enough positive things about garmin.Excellant.

I travel a lot and over the past few years I have been on a quest for a laptop that was small enough not to be hassle to drag around (which for me means 12" wide or smaller, and 4 lbs or less), but was also fully functional. I need a gig of RAM to run the graphics programs I use, and 40 gigs of storage is not enough anymore.

I have used a series of ever-smaller laptops from Gateway and Dell, but I really, really like this little Asus. I have a little satchel that I use when I go in the field, which is designed to hold maps and a compass. It's a small satchel--you can't fit a normal-sized magazine in without it bending. And yet the Eee fits inside (just barely).

How small is it? It can sit on an 8.5x11 piece of paper without overhanging the edges. The keyboard is big enough that it doesn't impair my typing. The 1024x600 screen takes a little getting used to--the other little laptops I've used have been 1200x800. Still, for me the slightly smaller screen is a fair trade for the improvement in portability.

I can see how a lot of people wouldn't like this machine because it's too small. Most of my friends think I'm crazy, but I look at their 8-pound monsters with screens almost a foot and a half wide, and all I can think about is what a pain those must be to take on an airplane.

So far I haven't had any performance problems at all. There is a faint hum from the hard drive fan, which probably only jumps out at me because my last laptop had a fan-less solid-state drive, which is silent. I doubt if it is something most people will notice; it's no louder than other fan-equipped laptops I've used. The built in megapixel webcam is a nice touch in a machine this small. The speakers are great, too.

I prefer to use open-source software, so the first thing I did was get online (it detected and connected to my home Wifi immediately and with no problems) and download Firefox and OpenOffice. I moved my files over from my external hard drive, and in an hour I was fully up and running with everything I need. Eee stands for "easy, excellent, and exciting"; I think Asus has achieved all three with this little gem.

The greatest laptop ever
Ordered the eee pc 1000h from ebay, got it on 7/25.
Having played with it for almost a week now, i can safely write something for this little wonder.

Originally I was planning to buy the msi wind because the 6 cell wind has very similar configuration as eee1000h, but it was 150 dollars less expensive(6cell wind $499 vs. eee1000h $649). Later on msi announced 6cell wind won't be available until late august/early september due to battery shortage, and eee1000h price was reduced by $100. Since eee pc series already have pretty good track record and msi wind is relatively new, I made a quick decision: placed an order on ebay and never regretted my choice since then.

The eee1000h comes with windows xp home sp3. Booting takes about 30 seconds. LED screen is pretty bright. Basically I can get very good lighting when brightness is set to about 30%. It comes with two partitions, 40GB each. After charging the battery, the first thing I wanted to do is to install ubuntu hardy 8.04 on the second partition and set up dual booting. I messed up with disk partition the first time, so I decided to try the recovery dvd. Man, the recovery is FAST! believe it or not, it took only 4 minutes 30 seconds to recover to factory pre-installed state. At first the ethernet and wireless didn't work under ubuntu. After fixing the drivers(credits to http://ubuntu-eee.com/index.php5?title=EeePC_901),
everything worked perfectly(except Fn keys, only brightness control works under ubuntu, but I can live with it). One thing i noticed is that ubuntu seems to be more powering consuming than windows xp. With xp, my battery shows 6h 35m at 100% when doing nothing, with brightness 30%, wifi on and bluetooth off. With ubuntu, the same condition shows only 4h 18m. I guess that has something to do with xorg/compiz always running in the background. The keyboard feels pretty responsive, I can type really fast on the keyboard. The CPU is powerfull yet very quiet. It doesn't get so warm as previous eee pc series. The lid hinge is sturdy and the black ebony case feels solid, although it gets my finger print very easily.

Overall, I'm pretty happy with it. Greatest laptop ever!!

Great Netbook for Road Warriors!
So I purchased this Asus Eee 1000H model in black at an electronics chain store in Taipei, Taiwan. I believe the local prices are slightly cheaper than the US retail price, but not by much. Don't worry.

I'm a MAC enthusiast. I currently own the regular MacBook and do all my hardcore writing on it. But when I travel to meetings or conferences, I needed a smaller laptop. Yeah, Apple's 12" macbook is still too bulky imo. I'm female and with 3 inch heels, every little pound counts! Besides, other than my regular handbag, I hate to carry an additional laptop bag. So Eee was my best bet.

I looked around similar offerings by HP, Dell, and Acer. For the specs, price, and the roomy enough 10" screen, I opted for Asus.

Did consider MacAir, but it's just too expensive right now, and I'm waiting for the 2nd generation to roll out with glitches fixed.

10" screen is the smallest I can go, because with smaller Eee models, I can't type without making a ton of mistakes and doing so hurts my hands.

The power up speed is extremely fast. Love Windows XP. This model comes with Microsoft Work, not Office. But for basic writing, and excel I don't mind Works.

Connects to my broadband in a heartbeat, detects wireless networks too.

The aesthetics is great. I love it in black. White can get dirty too easily. Yes, it does accumulate fingerprints, but you can easily wipe it down with the cloth they've included in the package.

Powerful, flexible, inexpensive, little unit. I love it, and it comes with a black microfiber sleeve to store your Eee inside your bigger carryon.

Great for kids too.

But for handsome 6 feet tall 200 pound men, I suspect not too suitable! =)

We purchased this calculator for my son's pre-calculus class. He has used a tutoral to become familiar with the product and found it very easy to use. If I had to purchase it again, I would have gone with the silver edition to obtain more memory.

You get what you paid for.
I have had this GPS for a month and just took it on a long trip. Save your money because you get what you paid for. This is an inexpensive unit and leaves a lot to be desired.

I named it Barbara after my mother in law (she is always giving directions) First, the maps are not up to date and do not have many current roads, at least where I live. On this long highway trip Barbara was mostly quiet except when you come to a major crossroad, then she tells you to stay on the current road at least three times, and sometimes more.

In my case I had driven most of this route many times and know the best way around some major cities. Barbara always wanted to direct me through the town and not give me the best route. In one case she had me going north when I needed to go west. Looking at my atlas I could plainly see that there was no way to get where I needed to be if I followed her directions. This happened many times on roads that have been around for decades. I felt that I could not trust the unit!

If you are in a strange area in the dark and there are not any alternate routes, Barbara would get me there every time. And I can say that that was a big help. But this was at the end of the route is a very rural area.

Next the display, if you can afford a larger display, buy it. This one is small and even with my small fingers I had trouble with some on the buttons. This is a heads up display with two nav bars at the top and bottom on the screen. They display the current road you are on and the one where your next turn is. My logic says the top bar should be the turn you are going to (heads up). But no, that is the road you are on and where you are going is on the bottom. Yea it's a minor thing but annoying.

OK, now try to find a point of interest while you are on a route. Food, Rest Area, etc. Your only option is to exit a point of interest. Now why would I want to exit if I was looking for one? I pushed the button and got a screen that would give me small icons with a distance from my current location. This was not any help at all, especially if I wanted to know where the next rest area was. To find that you must canx. your route and then pick the point of interest button. Barbara will then give you a list of categories to choose from. Alphabetical order, NO WAY!! Try pushing the little down button to find what you want, while driving. This makes you an accident waiting to happen. This unit should be classified in the same hazard category as cell phones!

I could go on and on but I think you get my drift. When you buy a cheap product, you get what you paid for!

Magellan Maestro 1300
Magellan is a very accurate and helpful item. I use it very often, out of state, and never get lost when looking for difficult destinations. It gives pleanty of time when notifying of upcoming maneuvers. It was a wise purchase.

Thank Goodness It Was Stolen!
We prefer the TomTom because it has an easier to use (and more thorough) 'points of interest' and 'maps' program. This Magellan Maestro became a headache when we had to utilize without any addresses ...especially when many streets were not listed on the map function. As a sidenote, never leave your GPS in the car...don't even leave it in the glove compartment!

Nice accessory to my Magellan
The Bracketron UFM-100BL dash mount pad works very well. It has a anti- slide material which keeps it in place when going around curves or braking.
It uses your actual window mount for your GPS so there is nothing for you to do except place it on the dash and secure the mount. It it much better viewing my Magellan GPS on the dash than on the windshield. I also purchased one for my niece and she loves it. Great addition for all GPS.

Nice case for the price
I agree with most of the other reviews on here. The case is really quite nice, well made quality leather and fits the ipod snugly. Makes a beautiful, classy appearance to the eye. Only complaint is the fact that you have to remove the ipod from the case (which is not an easy task) every time you want to connect it to your computer. I haven't been as daring as everyone else in trying to 'doctor' up the case (by slicing through the leather) and don't think I will try it. I will use it as is.

Fatal flaw
I have the DLO HipCase Folio for the iPod Nano and although it has some good features, it has a fatal flaw in that the back ripped apart after only a couple months of use. Fortunately the clip held, but this shouldn't happen.

I emailed DLO about this problem and received no repsonse.

It is also very difficult to adjust the volume with the click wheel. Half the time I end up changing the selection I am playing.

Great case with alterations
This case is everything I wanted, but with two alterations. Love the leather feel and the magnetic flap. It's great to wrap the earphones around. The belt clip works just the way I wanted it to work, since I clip in to the bib of my work overalls. But there was no opening to plug the big connector to the bottom of the nano and the clear plastic cover over the selector wheel was too much. Nothing an exacto knife couldn't fix, if you get my drift. Love it, now. Perfect for me.

A good budget unit
This is a good budget GPS. I used it to discover a couple of short cuts to work already. I modified it to support calculator, notepad, photo viewer, word/excel/ppt/pdf viewers, and mp3/video players, etc. in additional to the Destinator GPS program (Thanks daniel53 and others). It's a very nice toy especially for tech-savvy users (5 stars for being able to modify it).

The user interface may not be super intuitive as some high-priced units.

BTW, make sure to try the "avoid roads" feature under the "Manage Route." You can create one or more sets of roads to avoid (or not to avoid).

If Pharos can provide free map updates, as the previous reviewer mentioned, then I'll give it a 6-star rating. :-)

Good enough for me :)
I must admit I had my reservations purchasing this item, as the Pharos brand is not as well known as some of the others, and I could only find few comprehensive reviews on the unit. However, I simply could not argue with all the features that were being offered for such a low price... so I took the chance, and I am glad that I did. The performance was peppy, LCD was bright and easy to read, text-to-speech was clear, GPS tracking functioned smoothly as expected, the interface was reasonable intuitive. The point of interest and the maps seemed a little outdated, but the customer support told me that a new version should be available early next year on their website, free of charge.

All in all, although it may lack the "sophistication" in build/software quality of the bigger companies, I'm very happy with my purchase.

Good for the price.
I like simple but powerful devices -- as this one. I really have nothing to complain if this one uses some different operation styles from other GPSs. Get used to its own style and you will find it easy to use. The only true shortcomings I have found -- some simple functions that it really should have -- are:

1. no way to know how much power is left in the battery.

2. no way to adjust the time & date.

Good and durable headphones
I bought these headphones upon my friend's recommendation couple of years back and been using this regularly and happy with it so far.
Sound is great, the adjustors and head padding work very well and are comfortable. The ear puffs sometimes come off and the headphone does not collapse into the case so well these days. But other than that, these are very good. I would recommend it.

Best portable phones I know of
We own three sets of PX-100 (2 black and 1 white). Believe me, there is an audible difference between the black and white models. Maybe the white is different plastic, with a different resonance character. This is just professional conjecture. All I know is something must account for the difference, because I'm sure the drivers are the same.

Anyhow, the black ones definitely sound MUCH better than the white ones. I don't know if that has anything to do with the difference in price, but if you don't just HAVE to have white (for fashion sake or whatever), and if sound is the primary consideration, please do yourself a favor and get the black ones.

I have Sennheiser HD-600's in my studio, and of course they sound better (several hundred dollars does make a difference), but the black PX-100 has about 75-80% of the sound quality of the 600's! They are just a little "warm" in character, but for portable players that can be good thing. In fact, I rip my library to high bitrate .wma rather than mp3 (the mp3 codec tends to be warm itself), and the sonic character of the Zen player with these phones is amazing! But they sound great with portable CD players and laptops too.

I'm buying another black one since my oldest one (which I use every day) developed a short, and one channel doesn't play - but that's due to extremely heavy use over several years!

There's no accounting for taste, I suppose, and some people have some strange ideas of what sounds good. As an audio engineer, I prefer sonic neutrality. To my ears, when the black PX-100 is used with a typical portable audio device (in the typical playback environment), the combination is practically perfect. Considering the price, the light weight and the folding design (which I have no trouble getting right), these are primo phones.

They do let in outside noise and they are audible to others in your space, so if you need noise suppression or quiet phones, go with a sealed or in-ear type. If you just want something easy to use and great-sounding, and don't care about those things, these would be the way to go.

Great, but be careful!
I own the 2 GB version of this product and it's great. However, I have to write this review because if you plan to carry this in your pocket like I do, i would recommend getting the survivor version. This rubber casing is nice, small and light, but after months of use i started to worry that the USB tip was going to bend or break. The survivor is bigger but it fits in my pocket and it's very, very solid....love it.

Design
With a total weight of 5.1 ounces and slim measurements of 3.87 x 2.91 x 0.87 inches (WxHxD), the nüvi 350 is just right for the pocket or purse. A bright, 64,000-color display dominates the front of the device and a resolution of 320 x 240 pixels means that there's plenty of room for displaying map data and other elements of the device's interface. An SD memory card slot is provided for expansion software, such as a points of interest database, media files and electronic guides (see below). The flip-up antenna includes an MCX-type connector for connecting the unit to an external GPS antenna. Meanwhile, a powerful built-in speaker resides on the back of device. A built-in lithium ion battery will give you for to eight hours of battery life, depending on use. In addition to an AC charger, the unit also ships with a 12-volt power adapter for vehicle charging, as well as a windshield suction cup mount.

Fortunately, Garmin has made it easy to interface with the nüvi 350's 700 megabytes of onboard memory, thanks to "plug-and-play" USB mass storage support. Navigation
The nüvi 350 is first and foremost a personal GPS device. Wherever you go -- in your car or on foot-- the device offers extremely accurate position data, thanks to a high-sensitivity integrated GPS receiver by SiRF and WAAS-enabled, 12-satellite reception. Combined with detailed maps of the U.S., Canada and Puerto Rico the nüvi 350 provides automatic routing, turn-by-turn voice directions, and touchscreen control-- making it easy to find your way anywhere. Plus, the unique "text-to-speech" feature calls out turns by street name, and you can choose from either 2D or 3D mapping perspectives when you're viewing your route on the display. Navigation is just part of the journey, and the nüvi 350 is one of the first devices to recognize that. The built-in "Travel Kit" offers an MP3 player, an audio book player from Audible.com, a jpeg-format picture viewer, a world travel clock with time zones, a currency converter, a measurement converter, and a calculator.

In addition to the included travel tools, additional software add-ons are available, such as the Garmin Language Guide, with data provided by Oxford University Press. This software suite contains a multilingual word bank, phrase bank, and five bilingual dictionaries. The multilingual word bank and phrase bank supports nine languages and dialects, including American English, British English, French, German, Italian, Brazilian Portuguese, European Portuguese, European Spanish, and Latin American Spanish. Now you can look up and translate more than 17,000 words or 20,000 phrases per language -- right in the palm of your hand. Garmin nuvi 350
After reading lots of reviews (both positive and negative) I purchase two of the Garmin nuvi 350's. One review that concerned me was one that had several specific negative points until I noticed the review was a couple of years old and that the problems the person was seeing were probably indicative of the system when it was new and they were still working the kinks out. It takes several hours to download the initial map and software updates (both free) over DSL but works great. I've tried it for going place I know how to get to and places totally new and in the blind. I have to admit that it sometimes it picks a route which is different than I would pick probably because it calculates routes based on real speed limits rather than the accepted speeds. My community is changing rapidly and there are already roads which are not on the Garmin map. I'm sure updates will include these but I'm guessing I'll have to pay for those. The re-routing feature is quick and very helpful. I set up the second unit for my mother-in-law and shipped it to her. It took her awhile to realize that she needed to take it outside a flip up the antennae to get it to register her location. The price on Amazon (which I think was a special) was far cheaper than the lower model Garmins in stores. I actually ordered them at one price and they came out with a lower one before they even shipped the units. After I raised the issue they refunded the difference with no hassle or questions asked.

The 350 is fantastic!
All the reviews are true. This little unit is a gem and so easy to use. I chose the 350 over the 200 for the ability to say the actual street names, longer battery and extra accessories (AC adapter, carring case, etc.) in that order. This unit gets great reception even inside my house.
And is so small I can stick it in my pocket when I leave the car. The interface is very intuitive, I didn't read the manual and was able to figure it out. Just after sunset, or there abouts, it automatically turns to night mode (dark grey land instead of the beige land you see in the pics) making it easier on your eyes.
We were on a trip driving down I-5 in California (for those that don't know, most of I-5 is barren or farm land) and the kids really wanted Taco Bell...looked up the nearest Taco Bell off the freeway in the direction we were going, hit "GO" and it gave me directions and ETA! Since the GPS gets updated every second or so it knows how fast you are going and how long it'll take you to get there! Fabulous.
No more wondering when or where the next food stop/gas station/grocery store/etc. will be. Before our trip I looked up the hotel and attractions we would be going to....saved them to my "favorites" and during the trip I just hit "GO" to whichever location I needed. Fantastic!
Get yourself a Garmin friction dashboard mount...it's much better than the suction cup. With GPS receivers being the number one stolen item the friction mount allows you to easily hide the mount out of site (some theives see the suction mount and break in anyways looking for the GPS hoping you got lazy and left it in the glove compartment). The friction mount also makes it a breeze to transfer the mount between cars. The nuvi works great...you will not be disappointed.

Great Product.
I love this MP3 player, it holds all of my songs, and has a memory slot so if I run out of room on the hard drive I can purchase a memory card as large as I want. This is the only player I will every need and it was so much cheaper than most mp3's or ipods. I don't really know why anyone would pay such a high price for something when this MP3 works as well as anything on the market. The battery life holds up great and last a long time. The only draw back is that you have to charge it from your pc. Great product, would recommend it to anyone!

responded to my email despite being told that I would be contacted
within 24 to 48 hours.

This is the second time that I have encountered customer
service/warranty issues with Sandisk. At this point in time I am led to
believe that Sandisk has a habit of promising a warranty return and then
"dropping the ball" ostensibly to have a consumer to just go away.

At first I was content to just blog my experience with all of Sandisk's
responses because the first time this happened I attributed it to human
error. This time, I received a canned response to my inquiry and the
support issue was closed. I opened a new inquiry which has now also been
closed even though I emailed the receipt from Amazon.com for the e250
(we bought two at that time) and have not received any response to my email.

I am forced to conclude that Sandisk is content with selling devices,
providing semi-responsive customer service and then ignoring its
customers all while blaming the delays on the hand off between support
and RMA divisions.

Within my household we own four Sansa e250 devices, one c100 device and
a MicroSD expansion card. While I enjoy my Sansa e250 when it's working,
I no longer feel as if I can recommend it to my friends, colleagues or
to the readers of my blog due to this failing on the part of Sandisk.

VERY BUGGY!
When mine works, I really like it but most of the time I get random "Bad Track" messages and songs that don't work. And once in a while, I'll finish a listening session and all my songs are fine. Then I turn the device on later that day to listen to more music but most or all of my songs say "Unknown" for the title. I cannot figure out what causes the device to do this but I do know that it causes me to get pissed. Good luck getting video on it because I can't get mine to take ANY video. But in the devices favor, it has a nice bright screen, easy user interface, and good battery life. I just wish it wasn't so buggy so I could listen to music easily! Don't listen to people who say it's not loud enough because that all depends on your earbuds/headphones. I have some Philips earbuds that are so loud, I can only turn the volume up to one. But overall, just don't buy this, get a Creative or something.

Solves all my Power issues
My life just got better when I bought this battery pack.

I travel quite a bit, and have all the adapters and inverters and other power tools most businessmen have, but this little unit gives me exactly what I need for 2-3 day trips.

I can't tell you how many times I've wanted to throw my iPhone against the wall because the power was gone and I needed to make a call. Or how many times my iPod Video died on me mid-show.

I keep this battery pack in my laptop case, and i have immediate power anywhere & anytime. my iphone fully charges off this thing. My ipod fully charges. It's perfect.

I may get a second unit to keep in my car...maybe the mini version instead.

I highly recommend this to anybody how has had their iPhone or iPod die on them (which I'm sure is everybody!).

Best accessory for my iPhone!
This has been the best accessory that I've bought for my iPhone so far.

I took it on a short business trip to Europe. Not only was I able to use it to recharge my iPhone from ZERO to FULL on the plane and train (ie. Eurostar), but my husband discovered the included mini usb cable can recharge his BlackBerry as well. So we are able to share this one device for several of ours.

On top of that, the package included an iPhone sync cable. You can never have enough of these!

this is one HOT receiver!
i almost bought the tx-sr605, but i heard about the "new" 2008 model coming in, so i waited a few weeks for this one, and i have to say i'm VERY satisfied! i'll be honest in that i haven't used it to its full capabilities, but everything i have tried works great. the only minor complaint is probably similar to a lot of other people - this unit gets HOT! it gets so hot that the temperature in my entire bedroom rises about 5-10 degrees if i play PS3 for a couple hours. (fyi - i have this receiver hooked up to a sony 40" lcd, ps3, and comcast cable box w/ hd.) except for that minor issue, everything is fantastic and i'd highly recommend to anyone who's thinking of purchasing one.

Onkyo TX-SR 606 Great Buy
The Onkyo TX-SR 606 is great. It runs my home theater system as well as I suspected it would. It has plenty of HDMI inputs (4) and seamlessly runs my Pioneer PDP 5010 and NHT speakers. It upconverts standard DVD's to 1080i, and the clarity is great. The upconversion is so good it has delayed my buying a Bluray Player.

This is a GREAT PRICE! It almost looks like a mistake. For the past couple years, this has been $44 on Amazon, now its $32--$14 dollar cartridges for $8...WOW...I hope this price stays. Locally with tax, these are $17 individually.

Cannot use the black in my printer
I bought this elsewhere for more money and was dismayed to learn that the black one doesen't fit my mx700 printer. Soooo I had to order a seperate black #5 cartridge. Since the I learned that Canon has a 3-pack without the black. Hope this helps someone.

Ouch
I recently upgraded my failing MX510 mouse. After reading so many positive reviews I decided to try the G9. The features and setup program are all fantastic. The mouse is great and very responsive. I loved the mouse untill I actually had to use it for more than a couple minutes and got even worse when I tried to game with it. This mouse is just to unergonomic. My wrist would get fatigued fast and start hurting after a short time. I tried for several days but it never got better and I never got used to it. I returned the G9 and got the G5 which uses the classic tried and true Logitech mouse shape and am not disappointed. It is a great mouse and I have no more pain in my wrist.

You will love it trust me
I orignally got the mx518 for christmas. I saw this and thought that looks like a big dumb box and very uncomfortable. well turns out one of my friends had got one for christmas and i tried his out. it was nice but he didnt have things the way i would have liked them. so i sort of dismissed it but then in the back of my mind i thought about it. and one night i saw it for about $50 with $5 shipping so i jumped on it. Best mouse i have ever used and thats including all the other logitech g series and mx518, diamondback, lachiess, and copperhead razor. It has so much customizability you can make it feel perfect. i myself like all the weights and the small drytech grip. coming from the mx518 shaped mouse it can feel weird and uncomfortable at first but you get used to it fast and it becomes actually quite comfortable. i game for hours at a time about 4 to 9 hours a day and i never get hand cramps or discomfort in my hand.

Great Mouse
This is a wonderful mouse. Highly recommended. Some find it not responsive enough for FPS gaming, but it has done well for me in CounterStrike, Call of Duty, and Unreal Tournament. It also has been great for graphical editing.

I do, however, have to say that there is nothing ground-shattering about this mouse. It works very well, is very reliable, is very comfortable, and is highly configurable--but still, it's a mouse. Don't break your bank on it. If it goes on sale or you like the cool look, go for it. Otherwise, you can afford to wait for a sale.

Perfect Little Labeler
I dont use this Labeler for anything too sophisticated, If all you need is something labeled, short, simple, to the point this will do it. I use it to label various small items with my name, and to label little drawer organizers, and file labels. There are some symbols I wish it had that it doesnt, but they are pretty uncommon anyway and nothing a little abbreviating cant solve. It might do some extra stuff, I dont know but ive had it for quite awhile now and it is great, its very durable, the labels are easy to find, and if you ask me, the price is very reasonable (on amazon.com.

Good basic labeller
I found it to be very simple to use and it creates nice-looking labels. The only downside is that it does seem to go through batteries fairly quickly, but I use rechargeable batteries so it's not too bad.

Battery Issue
I see now that other people have had this same issue. $29 is a good price until you have to figure in $5 every other month for batteries. I use the PT-80 to make 5-10 labels a month and I continue to get the battery message. The PT-80 actually stops printing and feeding even though the measured voltage on the 1.5vdc batteries is 1.52-1.54vdc. Brand new batteries, they measure 1.59vdc, still get the battery message after printing 5 tapes.

Shopped around; would buy it again; but be aware of minor issues
Just bought this new from a local retailer. Did a lot of research online comparing this model to some of Canon's compact cameras. I'm not a photography buff so I wanted something that was small and not necessarily the "best" but would still take nice pictures. I really like the features that it includes. The 4x zoom is greater than most at this price point, and even some more expensive cameras. Seems to have a lot of neat features, like the Smart Zoom (digital zoom without pixelation), multiple auto focus points, and ability to shoot 640x480 video. The face detection is pretty cool and seems to work really well. I thought about getting the DSC-W130 with its 8MP resolution and editing features, but figured that 8MP was more than I needed and I'd rather do my photo editing on the computer.
One or two "bugs" I'm aware of:
1. If you shoot using burst mode, you'll find that you can't turn the flash back on in any mode but Easy mode. You have to reset the camera back to factory defaults to shoot using the flash again. Even knowing this I would still buy the camera, but I'm hoping that enough people would alert Sony to this error to release a firmware update to fix it. Otherwise I would have given it five stars.
2. When you plug in the camera with the USB cable the lens may open, so be sure not to leave it face down when transferring data.

Great Camera
Got this just before a trip to Utah. Very compact, easy to use. A 4G memory stick holds about 1500 pictures. The OEM battery lasted a week and 600 pictures. Can't beat it. Also got one of those "gumby" mini tripods at Wal Mart for $10. It's about 8" long with flexible legs. Highly recommended as well.

GPS bean bag Review Part was not exactly as I had expected. It does not secure my GPS securely. I will probably have to obtain a different type of mounting to secure my GPS to the dash. The picture online seem to indicate support on two side of the unit, but was not the case.
Good to have Garmin Bean Bag Mount for GPS V (010-10195-00) This is not as sturdy or as easy to use as the windshield mount but it is easy to put up and down for short drives around town. This is important as with the rise of popularity of portable GPS systems they have become a favorite target of thieves. It is reported they look for not only the GPS itself but the tell-tale ring-smudge on the windshield. Then they break your window looking for the system somewhere in the inside of the car.
my second purchase!! If you have a C340, this works very well and you don't have to leave the bag in your vehicle. You can take the whole unit with you when you leave your car. Very pleased!!

Under the Hood: How eneloop Controls Self-Discharge

How can the self-discharge in the eneloop be so reduced? The self-discharge of Ni-MH batteries is caused by three main reasons:

The chemical decomposition of the cathode
The natural disaggregation of the anode
Impurities of the anode

The chemical decomposition of the cathode has been reduced substantially by the use of a new hydrogen-absorbing superlattice alloy. As an additional benefit the superlattice alloy increases the electrical capacity of the battery and reduces the internal resistance, which allows higher discharge currents than conventional rechargeables. Also, the anode has been strengthened by the improvement of the electrolyte composition, which reduces the natural decomposition by increasing the oxygen over-voltage.

This gives eneloop batteries a number of advantages over traditional alkaline batteries, including up to four times more power when used in a digital camera, high performance even at low temperatures (down to 23 degrees F) during your winter vacation, and a vast cost savings in the long run. The eneloop advantages are even more glaring when compared to typical NiMH batteries: not only are they ready for use right out of the box, but they generally last longer than most NiMH batteries (continuous and frequent recharging can destroy other NiMH models) and save both time and money (traditional NiMH charging is slow when you're in a hurry, while rapid chargers are expensive). All told, you can recharge eneloop batteries up to 1,000 times without experiencing a "memory effect"--just charge the amount you need and you're set.

Long-lasting batteries
I purchased 3 of these to give as Christmas presents. Kept one for myself. Haven't used many of the batteries yet, but the first use didn't last all that long. Since recharging, they are holding on pretty well. I was on vacation when they gave out and fortunately my friend had a universal battery charger which worked on these. That's the charge they've kept so far. I would recommend, if taking this on a trip, charge first or take a charger with you, if its your first use of the batteries.

Simply amazing
NiMH batteries in general are very good, much better than alkaline as long as you use the proper charger.

Eneloop batteries are considerably better than any of the previous 3 NiMH brands I've used. After using these a few months I believe I am getting double the life I've had before in my camera and flashlight. In addition, I don't use the camera often but every time I use it the power is ready, and right where it left off a month before. I can't speak to the exact claims they make, I can only say that to me the difference is noticeable.

Camera savers...
I got a digital camera a few months ago and was on the verge of condemning it as useless because the batteries would die after as few as 5 pictures. It was rare to get 10 out of them! I had read that a good set of batteries would help, but I thought even twice the life would not do much good. I decided to try a set of these, mostly out of due diligence before putting the camera on some back shelf and trying to forget about how much money I wasted on it.

Well, all that has changed with these. Now the camera lasts at least 100 shots, if not 200-300. I never thought I would see this kind of improvement! Now the camera seems like a great purchase and I don't think I wasted a penny. If you have some electric gadget that eats batteries like there is no tomorrow, give these a try. Don't worry that the mAH rating isn't very high. The power of these batteries is that they keep a high voltage for most of the batter life, instead of dropping down linearly, as most do. So while others might go longer, the operating voltage might drop below what your device needs much quicker than the eneloops would.

I am very happy with these, and will buy more.

Video recorder, so easy to use
The Flip Mino is brilliantly simple. I've had a couple of camcorders which are big, complicated, fragile, and eventually break. The Mino is small, simple, sturdy with no moving parts. If you're looking for something easy to use to take high quality home videos, you've found it.

It recharges over the USB connector when you plug it into your Mac/PC. It seems to have way more charge than needed to take 60 minutes of video, so it might just end up being fully charged all the time (unlike my camcorders which were never ready to go). And I prefer the rechargeable over replaceable batteries that just end up in landfills.

The video quality of the compression software was also good, though the compressor itself took a long time. In all fairness, this is probably because I have an old slow G4 Mac -- time to upgrade. And you can easily grab the raw .avi files right off of the camera if you want to work with uncompressed files.

Easiest, slickest pocket video recorder
The easiest way to describe this is to call it the iPod of video cameras. It's got the same kind of slick, intuitive design that made the iPod such a success.

The user experience is so easy that even a child could do it: It arrived fully charged, so I just took it out of the box and pressed the red button to start recording. When I was done, I just plugged the USB connector at the top of the camera into my computer and it saved my videos for me. The USB connection also recharged the camera so that I could go out and shoot another round. The flip doesn't need cords, cables, CDs, instructions, or anything like that. It just works.

The video quality isn't HD, but it's not bad for a device that fits comfortably in a pocket. You shouldn't plan on shooting your feature-length masterpiece on this, but it's great for shooting casual Internet videos with friends or for remembering special moments.

The only complaint I have is that the touch-sensitive buttons can be a little too sensitive sometimes. It's easy to brush your hand across the back and get a series of chirps from the Flip as it tries to figure out why you just pressed all the buttons at once. But so far I haven't had any real problems. I also tend to not use the video-editing software that comes with the Flip, but that's just personal preference.

It works
It pulls in HDTV signals over the air. It's UHF element is HIGHLY directional (a good thing if you live downtown like me and have to deal with multipath) and took a while to find the optimal direction. It allows me to pick up all the Seattle HDTV networks (NBC,ABC,CBS,FOX,PBS) and their sub channels with no problem. I went for this model because it has VHF elements too and after Feb 2009, some Seattle channels (CBS, I think) are going back to VHF, and I wanted to make sure my antenna still worked then.

Works as advertised
This indoor antenna, along with a DTV converter box, worked wonders for my parents old, but nice, 36" TV. Their apartment complex has no external antenna and they got tired of paying for cable. The old amplified rabbit ears (analog) gave miserable reception. I had to get a 25 foot cable (don't forget a coupler) and locate the antenna on a top shelf in a closet in the far corner of the apartment pointed toward Mt. Wilson, but the LA stations come in pretty good (most around 70% signal strength) from about 30 miles away. This is in a downstairs apartment with another apartment in between the antenna and the broadcast towers. They get the occasional momentary dropout or artifacts, but it's far, far better than the indoor rabbit ears they were using before. I would imagine that on an outside wall, especially upstairs, the reception would be near perfect. This antenna does a good job.

AMAZING!!
Granted that I live close to all these antenna stations. The quality of the channels just blow my mind!! HD of ABC, NBC, CBC, FOX, you name it!! I have all of them! Crystal clear. I hook this up with my Elgato Hybrid and Macbook Pro. Man! What a great deal to watch HD!

Incredibly Good Indoor Antenna

Having spent a bundle acquiring a Sony LCD HDTV and upgrading our Dish service to include its limited set of HDTV channels, we were anxious to see what an Over-the-Air Antenna might add.

In all, we tested 5, including the highly rated Zenith log periodic (about $40 at Sears), an amplified Samsung (about $99 at Best Buy), an outdoor Terk 32 (about $80 at Circuit City), our old roof mounted VHF/UHF antenna (circa 1985), and the amplified Terk HDTVa (about $50 at Radio Shack). The Terk HDTVa won hands down; no contest, blowing away the much touted Zenith.

We live in the sparsely populated, low hill countryside of Western Massachuetts. The THDTVa effortlessly brings in between 20 and 30 analogue and digital (incl hdtv) channels broadcast most from 12 to 45 miles away, and some as far as 65+ miles away in Connecticut. Some digital OTA channels actually come in more sharply than some of the (Dish) satellite digital channels.

This is definitely a keeper: a great value, gem of an antenna. So good, in fact, we are debating giving up our $50/month Dish service, putting $15 of that to Netflix to replace HBO, and banking the remaining $35.

The best indoor antenna around!

I picked up this antenna based on the reviews I'd read and the fact that I refuse to pay for TV. I live in a rural area of Michigan and was hoping to avoid the big bulky roof antenna, I'm happy to say I wasn't disappointed. Not only does it pick up all my local stations, but I'm 100 miles from Chicago and it pulls in all of their UHF stations clearly and VHF with a little snow. Granted, weather conditions have a lot to do with an antenna's performance but this one doesn't let you down. It also takes time and patience to get the direction right. The instructions tell you to point the antenna towards the transmitter tower. Our tower is SE, but this only brought in a few stations clearly. I found if I pointed it SW, all the stations came in clearly including the Chicago stations. Really was a pleasant surprise to find something that actually could do what it claimed.

Good indoor antenna for St. Louis Stations

I live in illinois, about 30 miles from the broadcast towers in St. Louis which are about 232 degrees southwest of my position. This antenna is able to pick up all local HD channels really well. I have tried other types of antenna, but at the given range in this area this is the only indoor antenna that will work. I was on the fringe between buying this, the amplified model or the HDTVi, the un-amplified model. I'm glad I got this one, however, because the little bit of signal boost provided by the amp makes all the difference in receiving channels 2-1 and 30-1 without drops.

The log periodic design of this antenna is very sensitive to direction. You must point it directly to the area where your signals are broadcast from for it to pull them in. If your city has towers spread all over that are more than 18 degrees or so apart then this is not the antenna for you. The advertised range is 45 miles, but I'm sure that's really pushing it and is most likely based on a direct line of sight transmission. I would guess that the 30 miles I am getting is basically the upper limit in range for an indoor antenna like this one.

Plus, it looks really cool.

Update:
After using this antenna for a week or so, I have been able to tune a broadcast that is 61.2 miles away (according to antennaweb) with about 60% signal strength. This is really amazing for an indoor antenna, and it definitely reaffirms my recommendation.

The nüvi 700 series is the first to answer two common questions: "Where am I?" and "Where's my car?"

Better than the nuvi 660
I own both the Nuvi 660 and the 760, I'm writing this review for people having trouble deciding between the two as the price difference between the two products at the time of this review is about 100 dollars. I'm not going to focus on the feature differences, as that information can be easily obtained from specifications and online reviews. The 660 was a fine product back in 2005-2006, but the new 760 outdoes the 660 in practically everything, but there are some key usability fixes that make the 760 a better buy for the frequent user.

1. 760 has much better fonts for street names than the 660. This may seem like a trivial update to some, but the 760's fonts greatly improve visibility. The 660 uses all capitalized text for street names on the map, and the font is incredibly cartoonish and unaligned, something like the scribbling Comic Sans font on the PC. The 760 uses your standard Verdana-like font with street names in capitalized and lowercase letters. The fonts on the 760 are smaller, cleaner and surprisingly much easier to read while driving. The maps end up looking professional, and not some cartoony children's video game.

2. 760 has better rendering in 3D map mode than the 660. In the 660 when you are zoomed in under 3D map mode, the roads close to your car are displayed incredibly large, so large that they run into other roads, making the zoom function essentially kind of useless for dense roads. The 760 does not oversize your roads just because you zoomed in to view smaller roads in detail. This fix is very nice for those who drive in places with dense roadways, like New York City.

3. No antenna on the 760 makes hooking up your Nuvi to the cradle one step easier. On the 660 you need to flip up the antenna before attaching the cradle. For people who park their cars on the street overnight, removing the GPS from the cradle for storage in the console or glove compartment is a must, and it's a lot easier hooking up the 760 to the cradle than the 660. It's hard to aim the 660 to its cradle in the dark as you have to align both the bottom edge and the charge port under the antenna. In the 760, the charge port is directly on the bottom of the unit; you can attach it to the cradle with one hand in the dark easily on the 760.

4. It takes the 660 a good 45 seconds on average (sometimes longer than 2 minutes) after boot up to locate the satellite on a cold start. If you have firmware 2.6 installed on the 760, the satellite acquisition time after boot up is between 10-20 seconds. After the firmware update, my 760 also holds a stronger lock to the satellites than my 660, I can get satellite lock inside my house with the 760, whereas I can't get a lock with my 660 (adjusting the antenna does very little).

5. The ability to set multiple ad hoc viapoints on the 760 means it's a lot easier creating alternate routes (very handy to avoid a specific interstate or a high traffic road). Whereas the 660 gives you just one viapoint.

Highly Recommended,
This unit is replacing a nuvi 360, which is going to my sister. The nuvi 760 is still a bit hard to find. I found one in stock at a local SoCal retailer on 28-Oct.

Overall, I like the new compact form factor. There have been concerns expressed in various forums on the sensitivity of the internal antenna. So far, it seems to be sensitive enough. Side by side, signal strength and accuracy of the 760 are maginally better than my old 360 with the pop-up antenna. I'm getting 21 foot accuracy inside an office, a few feet from East facing windows. Attaching my external antenna to the MCX connector gives 9 Foot accuracy with 10 satellites at full signal strength.

The wide screen display is much brighter than the 360, readable in direct sunlight. The interface refinements are generally improvements, cleaner, more logical. I like having a choice of a QWERTY keyboard, better editing with retained history for the search field. Based on limited testing, the routing engine seems to perform identically to the 360, which was excellent. I've noticed a few updates to reflect newer roads in the 2008 maps. POIs are much improved in the San Diego area.

"Where am I?" works well and is quite useful displaying nearest address, major intersection, nearby hospitals, police and gas stations. "Where did I leave my car" is a bit clunky since you have to go into setup and change the Navigation to "off road" and then select "Last Location" from Favorites.

I've found two bugs so far in the initial firmware:

1) Start guidance with GPS active on a stored route with a distant starting point, decline "Navigate to Starting Point", nuvi will crash and delete the route.

2) Bluetooth dialing of "Home" phone number is truncated when using "Call Home" from the Phone screen. Dialing the same number from the "Home" entry in Favorites works.

Bluetooth paired easily with my Motorola E815 phone. Call history and phone book are loaded into the nuvi automatically. The sound from the built-in speaker is just OK. You may want to run it through your car speakers using the FM transmitter or Aux jack. If you use the phone a lot, buy the optional microphone and clip it to your visor... people will hear you better.

Garmin do not provide an AC charger in the box. They will sell you one. Using a generic USB charger (I used on from a Blackberry) places the nuvi in Data Mode. It charges just fine, but you can't use it while it is charging.

Still no selective route avoidance. The 2008 maps actually have a road near me that is not yet open. The nuvi always wants to take it to get to the freeway.

Haven't tested the traffic functionality yet. The nuvi comes with a 3-month subscription, then it's $60/yr.

The FM transmitter is less than useful with the crowded spectrum in SoCal. Hard to find an open channel, need to change it periodically. Often get a bit of static. I'm using the Aux input on my car stereo instead.

All in all, a great evolution of the nuvi line. I'm sure the firmware glitches will get worked out over time. If you are in the market at this price range and can find one, buy it.

Lives up to its promise

Previous to this, I had the Nuvi 350, which is also an excellent device. Since the function is identical in nearly every regard to the 350, there is little point in covering the basics in much depth, but it's worth re-stating some of them. I will go into great detail on the Bluetooth functionality below.

This is such a handy device, and is so well executed, that you would be hard-pressed not to love it. The first thing I noticed about the Nuvi was its incredibly small size and weight. I could not believe how light it was. I literally expected it to have at least twice the heft when I went to pick it up the first time - it was like picking up a deck of cards, but lighter.

The antenna is a flap that is raised from the back, maybe about the size of a matchbook. When raised the Nuvi immediately starts locking in on satellites, when lowered, the unit knows you are through navigating for a while. Intuitive and effective.

Navigation on the Nuvi is very good, fast, and intuitive. It's no different from many of Garmin's other offerings in that regard. Some buildings and businesses that you would expect to be shown as POIs are not there, but most are. One thing I would suggest: when a route is less than ideal, Garmin should allow you to correct it permanently so that it does not re-suggest the non-preferred route each time.

I had a problem with my old Nuvi 350 that I have not observed on the new 360. Sometimes the 350 would not lock onto the satellite signal. Once it went into this mode of searching for, but not locking in, for over a minute it just never found anything. The only way I found to correct this was to push the small reset button under the antenna. I notice that another reviewer found that his new 360 had the same problem. This must be a bug in some Nuvi units that would be worth following up with Garmin on. I can tell you that my 360 NEVER has required a reboot, and I've been using it continuously.

I did not test the MP3 functionality beyond verifying that it plays back the songs that are pre-loaded for demo purposes. I didn't care about this feature; I'm very happy with my iPod for song management and playback. I can verify that you would not want to use the Nuvi's internal speaker for song playback, though. It's good enough to use as a speakerphone and for voice prompts, but it's not a hi-fi.

Now, for the fun part: Bluetooth functionality. I have been using it with my BlackBerry 8700c with excellent results so far. I had no problems with the initial discovery and mating process. The interface is robust. What happens is that once your phone has made the connection with the 360, a phone icon appears on the Nuvi. You can now use the 360 to call ANY POI directly from the screen! This is truly amazing; you are now walking around with the yellow pages in the palm of your hand, sortable by your current location, or any other location you choose. I just find the Point of Interest, and touch the phone number of that POI, and the phone starts dialing it. The sound comes out through the speaker of the Nuvi, and conversations have been natural so far. It's working like an absolute charm, and this single feature moves the device beyond anything else available right now.

When you select the phone icon from the main screen, several phone-related icons appear. From the phone screen, you can make a call manually, access your address book, call a POI, etceteras. The manual dial function works fine from the touchscreen. The really cool news: Nuvi automatically downloads your phone's address book to its database when it makes the initial Bluetooth link. So, if your phone supports this functionality, you can use it for all dialing functions, since the display is so much nicer than most phones, and the touchscreen works really well. You can always break the BT connection once you get the number dialed if you want a private, non-speakerphoned conversation. I have done that many times already. Once your call ends, the connection to the Nuvi is reestablished automatically. One word of warning: BlackBerry does not support sending its addresses to the Nuvi, so I was unable to test the download feature, but this does not surprise me given BlackBerry's security obsession. I am confident that it would work fine with other supported phones.

Overall, the device is a joy to operate. The battery life is good, although I would not call it excellent. The menus are very intuitive. The accuracy is very high. Even the windshield mount earns my praise. I did a lot of research on the Nuvi, comparing it in excruciating detail to the latest Tom Tom 910, the Magellan Roadmate 800, etceteras. The 350 was a great unit, the 360's Bluetooth functionality makes it even better, and worth the extra money for me.

UPDATE (7/28/06): I just returned from a 4 day trip to Banff, Canada during which I logged another 20 hours of driving. The unit continues to perform perfectly, including comprehensive POIs in the Banff/Lake Louise area. I also discovered an amazing feature I had not noticed before. I was unfamiliar with the Lake Louise area and had three hungry kids in the car. I pressed Where To, then Restaurants, and the list appeared, in order of proximity to my moving vehicle. Each listing showed the distance to that restaurant, with a little arrow next to it showing the exact direction to that restaurant. I just left it on this page and drove around, following the arrows, which moved as I did, until I found a restaurant that looked good. What an amazing device. I also have nothing but praise for the window mount. Seems like a small thing, but it's so solid and well-designed I had to make special mention of it. It has a lever to easily create a large suction force, the ball joints are very solid, and the method of attachment to the Nuvi is just extremely well designed.

Update (9/2/06): I have now owned the Nuvi 360 for about two months. It continues to exceed my expectations in terms of reliability and accuracy. So many nice touches that you don't notice right away but that are executed so well. The auto brightness level, for example, is perfect. The night mode changes the color scheme and the background goes black, highlighting the roads well and keeping the light emissions at a pleasant level, where the day mode would have been too bright. Everyone I demo it for wants one. My next step: buy stock in Garmin?

Update (9/14/07): The unit continues to operate flawlessly. I have now bought this machine for several employees of my company, each of whom love it. I also followed through on my impulse to buy Garmin stock, which has more than doubled since then! I now also own a Nuvi 660; it's fantastic. However, with the wider screen it's a bit bulkier to carry around, so my wife and I trade them back and forth depending on what we are doing. I still say that the 360 is the best bang for the buck if you want the Bluetooth functionality, and the 350, which is now selling for only $370, is every ounce as good if you don't care about the Bluetooth.

One other point - I now drive a BMW 545i with integrated GPS. I bought the car used but I know that the option costs a bundle. I never use it because the Nuvi is so much more user friendly and fast. So for anyone out there who is trying to decide if they should spring for a very expensive integrated GPS system in their new car, here's one vote to save yourself the money and get the Nuvi. It's easier to use and you get to carry it around with you to boot!

Best All in One Solution Out There!

This may be one of the slickest little gadgets I've ever owned. It is not without some relatively minor deficiencies which pale in comparison to this products overall design and function.

First the good news. This is the smallest, most elegant and compact AIO (all in one) GPS navigation solution I've come across. The mapping details are excellent. The Nuvi 360 has map v8 updated from the v7 in the Nuvi 350. The voice prompts are loud, clear and timely. The ease of use is just fantastic and the visibility and quality of the display are very good. The 360 uses the low reflection screen and brighter display which were only found on the very latest 350s. POI access is excellent and can be navigated to much more simply than the TomTom unit which requires additional cumbersome steps. The attachment system for the Nuvi is superb and very secure. With the Nuvi 360 you can access your POIs directly by name rather than having to go through a cumbersome category menu and then only getting the POIs by proximity as is the case with the TomTom 910.

The new screen display in the 360 is nearly as good or equal to the TomTom 910. The automatic panning is not quite as good as the TomTom. And bright light visibility is nearly as good as the TomTom 910. Despite these minor comparative deficiencies, all the other advantages of the Nuvi much more than outweigh the disadvantages of the TomTom 910 (their top of the line). As with all GPS units, you want to place the Nuvi so as to reduce the sun's glare.

This device is intended as an extremely simple point to point navigating AIO GPS navigation solution and is not intended to enable the use of way points or easily changing the course selected by the unit. You have essentially two options: the shortest route and the fastest route. Fortunately, the mapping program selects routs that are very acceptable. Personally, I like to look at the overall route and fiddle with it. This unit is not designed for such use. Microsoft Streets and Trips is ideal for this kind of tinkering, but terrible for point to point navigation while on the go at which the Nuvi has no peer.

Make sure and get the most recent firmware updates on the Garmin website which will fix the known bugs and further improve the functionality. This unit is so easy to use that my 85 year old father purchased one for himself and he loves it to. He is, to put it kindly, technologically challenged but this unit is so intuitive and easy to use that he's had no problems whatsoever. He doesn't like to be distracted while driving so he plans his trip before leaving and simply listens to the voice prompts.

The new bluetooth feature makes using hands free use of your bluetooth enabled phone a pleasure. If you don't need or want the Bluetooth feature save yourself a couple of hundred bucks and get the most recent Nuvi 350 but make sure it's got the low reflective screen, the bright display and map v8. Remember, only the most recent Nuvi 350s have the bright low reflective screen. I believe if you get a 350 with map v8 it will automatically have the brighter display with the low reflection screen. I give this unit a 5 star on form and a 5 star on the functionality for which it was designed. You will not be disappointed.

Fantastic for Address Navigation, Bluetooth not worth it though

I've had the Nuvi 360 for a couple of weeks now and has really performed fantastically. From finding us places to eat and sleep in Hawaii (Oahu) and correctly navigating me to about 15 different addesses as I was checking out houses in the Southern California area, the unit has provided incredibly detailed and timely driving directions and even tells you which side of exit ramps to bear to, so that you can accurately go east/west or north/south as the case may be. The FIND function is good for finding things nearby your location, but don't count on it to take the place of the yellow-pages. Though there are POI's stored on it and it easily locates some of the more frequently visited establishments, this real worth of this device is not in finding you the nearest restaurant you're in the mood for, but navigating you to that destination given an address or intersection. You will do yourself a favor if you always have an address or intersection, as you can not find a single road with the Nuvi--so a little prior planning will go a long way.

I got the 2GB SD card with it, but just know that it is totally unnecessary. You don't need it for navigation or restaurant storage--in fact the country, language and Fodor's guides are all on separate and special SD cards. If you get one, it will only be to store photos or MP3's. If you're using this as your sound system however, perhaps you should be putting the money somewhere else first, before getting yourself a Navigator :O)

The included cigarrette-lighter plug works out nicely when you keep it plugged in all the time. It automatically turns the unit on when you turn the keys in the ignition and shuts down in 15 seconds when you leave the automobile. If you choose not to use the Nuvi while driving however, it simply charges the Nuvi for later battery use, for instance, if you wanted to take it biking or on a walk (yes, it has navigational settings for both!).

The visitbility is fine and the suction-mount is terrific, so there's no permanent commitment necessary. The only problem with the obvious windshield mount of the device is that once you link it with your Bluetooth phone and try to talk through it, your face is so far away from the front of your windshield that people on the other end can barely hear you and it's a tossup of how well you hear them (forget about it if you have a sunroof or convertible top down). For the difference in price between the 350 and 360, I wish I had forgotten about the Blue Tooth option and just went with the 350. Enough people seem to have other hands-free devices these days that having "another" one, that only works in your car, is really not worth your while.

Apart from the Bluetooth glitch, the Nuvi is one of the greatest devices I have ever owned and I think has payed for itself in uselessness, just this past week. And I don't think driving to a new location and asking it to show you driving distances to everything "nearby" will ever get old :O) I love it!

but after using reviews to make this purchase--I want to share my feedback.

We used the Nuvi 360 in over 2000 miles in Europe (with optional European card). It worked great in all 7 countries we visited. It located a gas station in a very remote rural area when we were extremely low on fuel. My device recovered very well after long tunnels (It never required rebooting). Worked very well on confusing roundabouts in large cities where many roads converged. It recalculated and routed perfectly when we were detoured several times. I found many obscure locations without fail--even when I was unsure of the exact address. I used it to plot drive times and even to determine real-time currency conversation rates. My wife and I enjoyed the scenic drive without hassling and debating each other over maps and routes. I would highly recommend this product to any travelers!

An "insanely great" device

I'm one of those people who wondered why anyone would pay big bucks for a GPS Navigation system when a $3 map would do the trick. The Garmin Nuvi 360 has converted me! And I continue to be amazed at the power, usefulness and ease of use of this little device.

On a recent trip from San Francisco to Vancouver, B.C. I took the Nuvi with me to avoid having to lug a shoebox full of maps. It took less than 15 minutes from opening the box to having it working in my car. The mount attaches easily and securely to the windshield, and the device powers up and is ready to use quickly right out of the box. The interface is well-designed and intuitive. You really don't need the manual. Even technophobes will quickly learn how to use most of the features with ease.

Entering a destination address is easy and quick. You simply press letters on a touchscreen keypad to spell out the address. Usually after just a few keystrokes, the device is smart enough to predict what you are typing and fill in the rest. Then you simply press a large "GO!" box and the device takes over. It varies the scale of the map so you have the best view of what you need to do next, and it speaks direction commands to you at just the right time. In my experience, these commands were very accurate and extremely helpful in their specific detail, for example, "In 50 feet, turn right on Main Street..."

I've read others say that the routing is not always accurate or optimal. I have not found that to be the case. In fact, on occasion, the Nuvi has suggested a route that was better than the one I was already familiar with.

There is a "favorite places" menu which I have found very useful, and the device keeps track of the recent places you've gone, which makes going back to any of them--from anywhere--extremely easy. Just press the big "GO HOME!" button, and wherever you are, the device will guide you home.

For longer trips, the device can display a "dashboard" with useful and interesting information, like estimated arrival time, length of travel, average speed, etc. You can also watch your progress on a map which shows points of interest that are nearby.

All this is pretty cool. But what really sold me on the device was an experience with the restaurant guide feature...I was driving on I-5 in the middle of nowhere and getting hungry. Just for fun, I decided to see if there were any Chinese restaurants nearby. With 2-3 keystrokes, the device listed one within 3 miles. I pressed "GO", and it guided me there. The travel guide feature soon becomes addictive. It's full of useful points of interest which are simple to locate and select.

After mastering the basic features, I experimented with the audio player. I easily added music and podcast files from a Mac using the supplied USB cable, simply by dragging and dropping MP3 files. An SD card allows for expanding the memory capacity. Ok, so it is not an iPod, but if I could have just one device in my car it would be the Nuvi. My only quibble is that the sound volume seems not to go loud enough, especially if you are driving with a window down, it will be difficult to hear the audio. Perhaps there is a way to wireless transmit the audio output to an FM channel on your car radio. If so, that would be a great feature.

The unit is about the size of a deck of cards and feels solid. The screen is sharp and bright enough for most applications, except perhaps in direct sunlight. It's so useful and portable that I sometimes carry it with me when traveling in unfamiliar areas, and definitely use it in rental cars. I haven't yet used the bluetooth features, as I need to upgrade my phone first. But when I do, I expect it will add a whole other dimension to the device's usefulness.

In short, this is one of those rare devices (TiVO comes to mind as another) that I never thought I needed, and now that I have it, I can't imagine how I lived without it. Garmin has really hit a homerun with the Nuvi 360. It's easy to learn, easy to use, and full of useful features.

This is my first experience with an MP3 and I am very pleased. It is easy to load and operate. I sometimes have trouble with the toggle switch and getting the music to start but it could be me, as my wife seems to have no problem with it. I recommend this product.

Good Overall Player, Good Price, Very easy to use, Good FM Tuner and Recorder function that few players have. Only complaints are: 1- the headphones are too big to fit my ears, the cable tends to get very tangled, there is no quick release of the headphone leash to the player

Don't get this unless you have two cars
Each Garmin Nuvi comes with its own DC cord. So unless you have 2 cars that you will be using the GPS in, don't buy this extra one.

I needed a spare 12V adapter for my Nuvi. I found this one at a reasonable price, and it was delivered promptly. It is made by Garmin, and is an exact replacement for the original. Just what I wanted!

So far, this charger has worked fine. Just want to clarify, though:
You don't need to order this separately, at least not if you order a Nuvi 350. The 350 comes with the car charger, AC charger, leather case, dash mount, and windshield mount. Don't order this unless you want two for some reason. Many of the accessories shown on the GPS unit product page are already included.

Comes in package with navigator.
This accessory is part of the original package when you buy the Garmin Nuvi navigator. You also get the windshield mount, a leather envelope for the unit, and an AC charger. Don't buy any accessories at the time of purchasing the unit. I bought this knowing I wanted and needed it and ended up with two and had to pay for return postage when I returned it because it was "My Fault" I couldn't use it. You only need this if your original one wears out or if you want to have multiple vehicles completely equipped. The product itself is excellent and keeps the navigation unit power from being depleted while using in the car.

Power Adapter great - just like original
I needed a second power adapter for my Garmin navigation unit, since I use it in 2 different cars, and didn't want to undo and remove the adapter I installed in my primary car. This second adaptor is as good as the factory unit and serves my purpose quite well, not to mention that the Garmin NUVI navigator is the greatest thing since sliced bread!!

Disappointed
I bought this camera for the 10x optical zoom and for the AF feature. I was disappointed in the picture lag time and it does not take good pictures in low light situations. However, the red eye feature works great and the zoom. I took the camera back, due to the bad low light pictures and the lag time.

My lap is cooler - thank you!
Many a night, I use my laptop while watching TV. I have tried many different products that are suppose to cool the laptop. Well, this one works. You dont hear it running and I was wondering if it was working. Well, I then felt the cool air - yes cool air running out the sides of the product. I have noticed that the bottom of my laptop is cool even when it has been running all day. I now carry it with me in my laptop bag. My only complaint with it is that the USB cable is a little too short. I wish the cable would of just been a few inches longer. Other than that, the product is perfect. I definitely recommend this product.

Works very well. Keeps my 2 GHz laptop amazingly cool. Extremely quiet even at top speed. Although I use it with my 17 inch Laptop, I wish that they would make it a little bit wider to better accommodate the wider laptops. Highly recommended.

Great price, works as I expected
I have one of these 2GB card already, and its been working fine without any problem. Guess the concern here is the reliability for the card, especially compare with other cards on the market. I am not aware of a consistent pattern of these cheaper cards fail more often than the more expensive ones, such as the Sandisk cards. Not the fastest card, which is expected also. No complaints so far.

Excellent quality; outstanding value
Visit most audio/videophile forums on the net and you'll find a string warning against buying those "high-end" cables sold at the big box stores. This product is a prime example of why you shouldn't spend more than a few dollars on cables. This HDMI has performed flawlessly for me connecting my xbox 360 to my new plasma t.v. For less than $10 shipped I got an excellent cable for what could have cost me $30-$60 in a store for a brand name. Trust me, take the money you save and invest in your games/movies collection!

Sweet bargain, great performance
I got this HDMI cable for under $10 just to see whether it will work as well as the expensive ones and it was well worth the risk. I tested it with my upconverting LG DVD player on 1080i resolution on my 42" 1080p Westinghouse LCD TV and it works just like any other HDMI cable, including those loud names who charge you ten-fold for "golden plated extra special micro gravity nanotechnology space age wireless high conductivity low noise extra gauge supercalafragilisticexpialidocious" cables with no difference in performance. By buying this cable I avoided the huge "naive citizen tax" included in these products. Considering its price, this is an amazingly good cable.

Price performer!
HDMI is a digital signal. That means it's all or nothing--not like analog where you may have degradation due to signal loss, crosstalk, radio frequency interference, etc. As long as you have a decent HDMI cable to transmit the digital bitstream from point A to point B, you're set. I just purchased the new Sony Bravia S-series 32 inch LCD TV. To go with it, I trashed my old Apex with the missing remote and got a deal on a Sony DVP-NS70H upconverting DVD player that can synthesize "extra" lines of resolution. The player can send 720p or 1080i signal to the TV. (Current DVDs are 480p; that standard will change eventually with Blu-Ray and HD-DVD.) I knew that the upconversion feature only works through a digital connection, so I'd need to get an HDMI cable. Started checking prices and, no surprise, they were all over the place. Some were in the $100 range. Despite mild skepticism, I decided to try the cheapest one. This little beauty arrived in 3 days in a plain brown wrapper and a clear plastic bag. The cable is surprisingly robust, with nice build quality, supple insulation, and good connectors. I started to feel vindicated. So I plugged it in, put Harry Potter in the DVD player and WOW!! The DVD player and TV did their magic. Spellbindingly great picture and sound. I haven't tried a component analog connection--those cables are REALLY expensive and quality matters more there--so I can't compare component versus HDMI. Bottom line: this is an unbeatable price performer for around $10 incuding shipping. And no, this is not an April Fools joke.

Why pay out the wazoo when you can get this cable?!?!
OK - here's the story. I was going to buy a Toshiba HDTV. I had picked it out already and was ready to purchase it and that was when I found a promotion at a local retailer that if I bought a Toshiba HDTV then I can get $200 off of any of the Toshiba HD DVD players. The HDA2 was normally $399 but was on sale for $299 and with the $200 off I got it for $99!! You can't beat that!

Well, I got that on Tuesday and it was an unexpected purchase. I asked the person at the store how much the HDMI cable would be so that I can hook it up as soon as I get home. He said, it's a Monster Cable and it costs $124.99! Whoa! I went up to the shelf and saw the sticker that said $124.99 on it and on the sticker it said "Financing Available"! What?! I'm not going to pay more for the cable than I did for the DVD player! These guys are crazy!

I told the guy "You are nuts if you think I'm going to pay that amount" and I logged onto Amazon and purchased this HDMI cable I'm doing the review for. I paid, with shipping, less than $9 for it. I was a little worried about it though - I'm sure that there must be a difference between the $124.99 cable and the $9 cable. So, I took the test. I went and purchased the $124.99 cable (mostly because I was too anxious to try out the new HD DVD player and couldn't wait for it to arrive). I plugged it in and of course the HD DVD I played looked absolutely amazing! The very next day I got the $9 cable (pretty fast shipping by these guys by the way) and I hooked it up. I was worried what I would find but when I started watching the same HD DVD that I watched the night before on the $124.99 cable I could notice NO DIFFERNCE WHATSOEVER between the two cables' results. So I returned the $124.99 cable.

You will not be sorry if you purchase this cable over the other ones in the major retailers. Don't let them tell you "it's a better quality cable" or anything like that. This cable is built very well - you can just tell when you hold it in your hand that it was made well. You don't get the fancy plastic packaging that you have to tear into with a knife and cut your fingers on though (oh what a bummer!). Get this cable. It's great!

The only thing you will want to research is that I have seen in some literature that there are two different kinds of cables. I think there is a special one for 1080p DVD players (dont' quote me on this). So do your research before purchasing just to make sure that this is the correct "type". As far as build quality - picture quality, for use with an upconverting DVD player as well as the Toshiba HDA2 HD DVD player, it's an absolute steal.

How Does One Compare?
There are already almost 500 reviews on this one simple 6' HDMI cable, so how can I possibly add anything to the comments? Well, I'm not going to emphasize the technical part of this cable. I will simply say this, I went to Walmart to get one, the cheapest they had was $39.95, I went to Best Buy, the cheapest they had was $59.95. THIS IS FOR A 6' CABLE , FOLKS...made in CHINA. How , i said is the $59.95 cable BETTER than this one for a mere 2 bucks or less? Well, I happened to buy a 3' cable spur of the moment when i got my first HDMI connective DVD player. It was over $20...I purchased this cable to hook up a new receiver and changed them around just to compare. IF, and that is a big if, there is any difference, I cannot tell it with the naked eye! Someone is getting rich. I will buy several of these, the price is GREAT, ok, so you have to pay a little S/H. Big Deal, You could still buy 10 of these to 1 of the higher priced cable and not tell the difference. Good Product, ABSOLUTE BARGAIN OF A PRICE!
